Performance Issue: Matrix Media

What?

Matrix media was temporarily slow or completely unresponsive. Images, videos, and other media may have taken unusually long or completely failed to load or send.

When?

Between around 4:00 AM CDT and 5:07 AM CDT on Monday, August 30th.

Why?

The Matrix media repository daemon began consuming a high amount of memory until the memory allocated to it was exhausted. The daemon failed to be automatically restarted. A manual restart was performed after receiving user reports about issues with media.
