Partial Outage

What?

Outgoing Matrix federation suffered a temporary outage. Some outgoing messages may have been delayed until the issue was resolved, depending on their destination. No messages were lost.

When?

Between 12:49 AM CDT and 2:58 AM CDT on Wednesday, May 11th.

Why?

The local caching DNS resolver on the Matrix server entered an inoperative state after a response verification feature failed. The feature was disabled and the resolver was restarted pending permanent mitigation.
